How To Grip Your Hurling Stick

21/02/2024

Using an ATAK Grip on your hurley is not just for comfort, but improves your grip on the stick. Applying a grip properly is a straightforward process, but it is important to apply the grip correctly. A good grip not only enhances your control and handling of the stick but also provides comfort during gameplay. Here is a step by step guide to make sure you get the most out of your ATAK Grip and Hurling Stick.

  1. Gather Materials:
  • Hurling stick
  • ATAK Grip or ATAK Grip XL

  1. Prepare the Stick:
  • Ensure that the hurling stick is clean and free from any dirt or debris. Wipe it down with a clean, dry cloth if necessary

  1. Begin Wrapping:
  • Peel off a small portion of the backing from the grip tape to expose the adhesive. Start with the tapered end.

  1. Secure the Grip:
  • Press the tapered end of the grip firmly onto the top of the hurling stick's handle.

  • Wrap the tape around the handle in a spiral motion, ensuring that each wrap slightly overlaps the previous one.
  • Maintain tension on the grip tape as you wrap to ensure a snug fit and prevent any looseness.

  1. Continue Wrapping:
  • Continue wrapping the grip tape down the length of the hurling stick's handle. The length of the grip tape may vary depending on personal preference and the size of the stick handle – you can cut the grip if you wish.

  1. Finish the Wrap:
  • Press down firmly on the end of the grip tape to secure it in place and prevent unraveling.

  1. Secure the Ends:

  • Wrap the supplied adhesive tape tightly around the bottom of the grip to hold the end of the grip in place.

By following these steps, you can effectively apply an ATAK Grip to your hurling stick, providing you with improved control, comfort, and performance on the field. Remember to adjust the tightness and thickness of the grip according to your personal preferences and playing style. ATAK Grips come in standard and XL sizes in a full range of colours.
